π November 17, 2026: $600
π February 17, 2027: $1,000
π April 17, 2027: $2,000
Reaching these Goal Posts will help us:
β’ Attend The Blox Bootcamp
β’ Continue our education and professional development
β’ Strengthen Dark Star Radioβs public relations
β’ Improve our current website and software
β’ Develop the technology behind the next Dark Star Radio
β’ Prepare for our future nonprofit work
Dark Star Radio was founded in 2014 as an independent home for:
β’ Goth and industrial music
β’ Metal and underground artists
β’ Interviews and storytelling
β’ Live programming
β’ Independent creative communities
Our founderβs email stays considerably full, so Dark Star Radio
generally accepts music for airplay through our current submission form.
The form gives our DJs direct access to your music, allowing them to:
β’ Find your songs
β’ Review your submission
β’ Decide whether it fits their programming
β’ Play it without waiting for files to be forwarded
Music emailed directly to the founder must be rerouted manually.
Historically, this has not resulted in more airplay.
The submission form places your music where our DJs can actually access it.
Dark Star Radio currently has a very small crew.
Please choose the three songs that best represent your music
instead of submitting a full album or large catalog.
Limiting submissions helps our DJs:
β’ Review artists more fairly
β’ Give each submission proper attention
β’ Avoid becoming overwhelmed by large catalogs
β’ Quickly understand your sound and style
Three strong songs give us a focused introduction without
burying our crew beneath a mountain of files.
We are improving Dark Star Radioβs software and preparing to connect
it with our larger community technology. The future submission system will
allow artists to upload up to three files directly. Until then, please use our
current submission form and select the three songs that best represent you.
The next Dark Star Radio will become a connected ”
platform where independent radio stations can be:
β’ Listed
β’ Discovered
β’ Heard
β’ Connected to their own communities
Listeners will be able to move between stations as easily
as changing a channel. Each time someone selects a different station:
β’ That stationβs full profile will appear
β’ The platformβs colors and design will transform
β’ Its artwork and branding will take over
β’ Its live radio player and schedule will load
β’ Its DJs, shows, events, and musicians will appear
β’ Its dedicated community space will open
π€ You will not simply hear another station.
β¨ You will step into its world.
β’ Custom station profile and visual identity
β’ Live radio player and programming schedule
β’ DJ, host, and broadcaster pages
β’ Show and podcast listings
β’ Featured musicians and music discovery
β’ Listener discussions and community spaces
β’ Events, announcements, and livestreams
β’ Fundraising and support tools
The platform will include a shared Commons where
people can move beyond one station and discover:
β’ Other independent stations
β’ New musicians and music
β’ DJs, hosts, and creators
β’ Genres and underground scenes
β’ Shows, podcasts, and interviews
β’ Events and livestreams
β’ New communities to join
The wider community will be open to:
β’ Listeners
β’ Musicians
β’ DJs and broadcasters
β’ Creators
β’ Independent and community radio stations
AI could help support:
β’ Music, artist, show, and station discovery
β’ Personalized recommendations based on listener interests
β’ Search and navigation across the platform
β’ Accessibility tools and alternative ways to participate
β’ Submission organization and file management
β’ Community moderation and safety
β’ Spam, harassment, and unauthorized-sales detection
β’ Station management and administrative tasks
β’ Connections between listeners, artists, DJs, stations, and communities
AI would work alongside human DJs, artists, station owners, moderators,
educators, and community leaders. It would not replace the people creating
the music, programming, stories, and communities. Its purpose would be to
reduce administrative barriers, improve accessibility, protect community
spaces, and help independent voices reach the people searching for them.
π€ Dark Star Radio will not hide its use of AI.
AI is part of the infrastructure we are intentionally building into the future platform.
Independent, nonprofit, volunteer-run, and low-income stations would receive free
or affordable access while they are still building. π Once an independent station begins
earning money, it would contribute through a scalable buy-in based on:
β’ Its size
β’ Its revenue
β’ Its available resources
Small stations would pay a small amount.
Growing stations would contribute more as they become financially sustainable.
Mainstream and corporate radio companies would be required
to pay a much larger buy-in for access to:
β’ The platform
β’ Its listeners
β’ Its discovery tools
β’ Its community infrastructure
Corporations would not be allowed to dominate the platform simply
because they have larger budgets. Their contributions would help fund
the infrastructure that keeps independent, nonprofit, underground,
educational, and community radio accessible.
π‘ The goal is not to make independent radio compete with corporations
on corporate terms. The goal is to build a world where independent stations
can grow, earn, connect, and remain independent.
Dark Star Radio is working toward becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
focused on education, accessibility, independent media, music discovery, and community participation.
As a nonprofit, our mission would extend beyond broadcasting music.
β’ ποΈ Radio broadcasting and show production
β’ π§ DJing, podcasting, interviewing, and audio storytelling
β’ π΅ Independent music discovery and artist promotion
β’ π± Digital media, community building, and creative technology
β’ βΏ Accessible participation in media and entertainment
β’ π€ Underground music, culture, history, and creative expression
β’ Workshops and training programs
β’ Volunteer and mentorship opportunities
β’ Hands-on experience producing shows and media
β’ Resources for new DJs, hosts, podcasters, and creators
β’ Accessible ways to participate remotely
β’ Partnerships with artists, stations, schools, and community organizations
The nonprofit would help independent artists,
broadcasters, and community stations gain access to:
β’ Education and professional development
β’ Promotion and discovery
β’ Shared technology and resources
β’ Community-building tools
β’ Accessible creative opportunities
β’ A larger network of listeners and collaborators
Donations would help support:
β’ The current Dark Star Radio station
β’ Website and software development
β’ Broadcasting and community technology
β’ Educational programs and resources
β’ Accessibility improvements
β’ Artist and station promotion
β’ Training, classes, and professional development
β’ The long-term nonprofit application and growth process
The donation button will support the Dark Star Radio that exists today while helping
us build the educational nonprofit and independent-radio network of tomorrow.
You can read more about the technology I am working to bring into reality on The
Founder’s portfolio’s Vision page.
π‘ We are not only preserving one radio station.
We are building an educational media network
where every independent signal can have its own identity,
its own community, and a chance to be heard. π€
